£10,000 to save but where to put it?

I have £10K that I'd like to save and I'm prepared to have no access to the funds for 12 months. I have been doing some research and the Kaupthing Edge Term Account has a good rate, from memory I think it's 6.86% but could anyone suggest an alternative that could beat this rate?

Birmingham Midshires Bond pays 6.87% and is fixed for 6 months, so you can review your situation again after that.

    Hi

Thank you for your information. After further deliberation I have decided to go with an instant access account. So for any reason if I need to get my hands on the money it's available and I still have the opportunity to add to it as and when I have the funds.

Kaupthing Edge has 6.5% rate - but I haven't heard of them until now. Is there any other provider that would be a safer investment?

The other option is an ISA but I know I am limited to the amount I can invest but without the 20% tax to pay it could be an option.......oh i'm confused now....!

    Thanks for your time

    Hi,

First of all I would do your Cash Isa allowance and then I would look at ICICI as they are offering a 6month or 1 year fixed at 7% AER. I have been with them for some time and have had no problems what so ever, transferring money or speaking to them on the phone. Having said that they are based in India but regulated by the FSA so all in all they are OK. Not sure about Kaupthing - have looked at them myself but ICICI seems a better deal to me.

Kaupthing Edge is quick to set up and fully covered for your first 35k so for instant savings it's currently the best at 6.5% aer.
