just phoned them up on the off chance of getting a  deal off them i told them i was going over to sky after bieng with them since 2001 told me they would give me 8mbs for £9.99a month with the next six free if i did not go ,i was paying £19.99 a month guess what i did not go....

SORRY if all is not clear great service off aol and always has been for me sice 2001 

Have been with AOL for years and have Broad band wireless and also use McAfee security, I have not had a day without problems, my PC constantly crashes and many times I cant even log on to AOL, the McAfee package is not much better and keep getting "your computer is not protetcted",

Trying to put all this right on a constant level is driving me mad, only way round it is to uninstall AOL and reinstall, often have to do this half a dozen times for it to work, as for McAfee the process of trying to reinstall that is just a nightmare and have been without it now for 3 day's dispite Tech. support giving me various links to log onto without success.

I know I am not alone on this as I speak to many people and all have the same problem, anyone out there who could shed some light on this, also takes forever for my laptop to sign on, only compounding my frustration AAAAAAAAHHHH

i know its annoying of the laptop going slow etc. I going to be honest with ya, that AOL software is a murder on computer memory.

I have a HP laptop, I am from Ireland :) and My Friend in the UK wanted to chat with me on AOL, so I downloaded the AOL software, the AOL 9.0 one and wow, did my laptop go slow!!! It really got to me how slow it was and then the software would be in ur way all the time so I just uninstalled it.

 
Now as you are an AOL member, you mentioned you are wireless,,, now if you just use the software to browse and check ur email... you can actually do all that without using the software,,, you can actually do that in Internet Explorer.

The AOL software was used before to login to ur account to start the modem bb, but with wireless, its always on broadband now. As a test sometime,, see can you open Internet Explorer and browse the internet without going into the AOL software :) It should work unless something was blocked. If that works, then you dont need the AOL software, therefore uninstall it saving u memory :)

With regards to McAfee, its a killer on memory aswell, I dont know about the message "your computer is not protetcted",, I dont use mcafee for that reason about memory..... I use AVG on www.grisoft.com.
