    Taking it higher

I have a few posst here about my broadband nightmare but to recap,

signed up with talktalk and straight away my adsl signal died. After 3 months I cancelled and went with Orange. Still no ADSL signal so cancelled as I thought I'll have to go with BT. left it a while and then maybe last month I tried to sign up with BT broadband but couldn't. I called them and was advised that there is a tag/marker from orange on the line. Called orange who kindly removed the line but I tried to sign up again and was asked for a MAC code. Called orange for a MAC code who advised me they couldn't provide me with a MAC since I had closed my account and they had no means of providing me with one. Called BT to say this and was advised that legally they couldn't touch the line without a MAC.

What was I to do? I was in a catch 22 situation.

I ended up logging a complaint with the ISPA at http://www.ispa.org.uk. within about 3 days I had a letter from orange apologising and advising me that they had personally called BT and arranged to have the service removed from the line so that I would then be free to sign up MAC-less for Tomorrow (13/7/07).

I will post back here and let you know if this was done or not tomorrow.

    Re: Taking it higher

Ok, it's now 4 days later and nothing has been done.

Since orange are telling me that they cannot provide a MAC code since my account is closed I will just tell them to re-open it only to Issue me with a MAC.

    These folk are total numpties.

    Re: Taking it higher

Tonight I checked the BT.com site and tried to sign up and I managed it. I think Perhaps BT took their time in taking the service off. Anyway. 30th of July is my go live date> I'll post in the BT forum if there's problems or even just to say what happens.

    Re: Taking it higher

I went live on the 30th although my router and hub phone didn't arrive. I was able to use my old talktalk Huawei router so fair do's. No wireless but it's access nonethe less so would do as an interim solution.

I called BT and they advised me my equipment was never ordered but they would do so straight away. It was due in 10 working days.

On the 10th day I had a not through my letter box to collect a package from my neighbours. I collected it and it was the HUB but no HUB phone.

I emailed since each time I called I had to hold for 10 mins and left it at that. 10 workign days later, I got my hub phone (Which by the way has horrible ringtones.)

I suppose this is really a BT related post but I think it highlights the end of my prblems I was having with Orange.
