    Re: "new-car-discount.com", are they reliable?

Sorry I have nothing constructive to add, I just wanted to say good luck to everyone who is caught up in this mess. I got my car and just had problems getting the documentation from this disreputable company. I would like to say well done to Moneysupermarket.com for hosting a very useful forum.

    Re: "new-car-discount.com", are they reliable?

I have an appointment with a solicior on Monday, luckily it's a free half hour consultation. But is it really worth hiring a solicitor if there is no money to be got? Is anybody else seeking legal advice and for what aim.

Also just sent the letter off to the credit card company hoping to try the section 75 thingy, if anybody is doing likewise, if you can, can you update your progress. I'm sure the credit card companies will be trying to avoid paying the full amount, and it would be interesting to see how they are getting out of it.

    Thanks

    Re: "new-car-discount.com", are they reliable?

My credit card is a mastercard through Tesco. They were helpful and have sent me the relevant forms to complete and told me to get copies of all correspondence to NCD prepared ready to send to them. The deposit money is certainly guarenteed but they said they would need to look into the rest v what is said in section 75.

Good idea to keep each other posted. Will post any news and outcome as soon as I have it.

Also think we should continue raising profile what has happended to ensure David S, Terry H and Christopher G get as much bad press as possible and limit their opportunity to do this again. Based on info posted earlier today, it is alledged that the money we paid in good faith for our cars a few weeks ago has been moved to another company (rather than paying the debts owed by NCD) by David Schofield. This allows him to weather this 'financial storm', sleep well at night and then repeat the whole thing again.

Might sound bitter and might seem futile initially but somone needs to do it........

Good idea. I will also check our credit card conditions. I have contacted Watchdog, whether or not it will come to anything I don't know, but worth a shot. I have also started a facebook group called I hate New Car Discount, petty but I think they deserve as much bad publicity as we can muster. I would hate for this to keep happening to others.

I am not spending any more money as the administrators said the pot is empty. They have my address and are writing to me and am sure if they find any money or find the other company is in some way liable they will let me know. i agree that we should keep up the work on the directors just to stop other people being fooled.

Forgot to mention, I have downloaded the accounts for Oracle Cars, the newco and New Car Discount. If anyone would like copies please let me know. Don't wish to see anyone wasting anymore of their hard earned cash on these shonksters.

    Re: "new-car-discount.com", are they reliable?

Hi all, like the idea about keeping everyone updated with the credit card avenue. My card is with Halifax, and when I phoned to ask about their liability I was told to send a covering letter and a copy of receipts to their disputes and charge back department. Will keep you all up to date on here as the situation progresses.

I note David Schofield, Terry Horgan and Chris Green all have Facebook pages. David Schofield only has 3 friends. Shame.

    Re: "new-car-discount.com", are they reliable?

    Hello everyone,

So sorry to hear of everyone's anguish over this dreadful company.

I suppose I'm one of the lucky ones actually getting my vehicle - but not registration docs!!

I've just been on to the DVLA and for those of you in the same situation as me you will need to apply for the registration document. Get form V62 from the post office and for a £25 fee you will be registered as the keeper - well worth it I think.

To those of you not so lucky hang in there and hope that the administrators get back to you!!

    Re: "new-car-discount.com", are they reliable?

I wonder if anybody had heard of 1-2-1 cars or discount? Apparently that is where my car is. Do the Directors have any other companies that anybody has heard of (apart from motoring.co.uk). Thanks

    Re: "new-car-discount.com", are they reliable?

Thank you all for all the usefull informations. God bless you.

I have contacted Trading Standards and they said you have to wait for the deadline you gave them in your letter, Monday next week and then contact the CC company, mine HSBC. I called HSBC they were not entirely helpfull regarding refunding all the money but the said the deposit is guaranteed. But according to section 75 it is clear that the CC is also liable and even if part of the value of the good is paid by the CC they are held liable for the rest of the money. I am going to the police tommorrow to register an interest and will see next week what happen. I am also going to CABureau.

This is a lesson for all of us, certainly a big lesson for me but we all acted with good faith and we did not know there are cowards somewhere there..........

    Re: "new-car-discount.com", are they reliable?

ensalmo --- Under section 75 of the consumer credit act 1974 credit card providers have an equal liability to refund for a breach of contract as the original supplier who has caused the breach of contract.

They will not like having to refund your lost money but that is the law, this applies even if you have only paid the deposit by card, they are still liable for re-imbursement of the whole lost amount.

    Sponsored Partner

I shall investigate what's happening here and will let you know anything I hear. In the meantime this company shall be removed from the site. Peter

    Peter,

Have you turned anything up? Complaints about this company have appeared in great numbers regularly from August 2007,with rumblings of discontent on other forums prior to that.

It begs the question about the review process for your partners. Clearly the links have remained until the last day or so despite ongoing problems and significant customer service issues.

I may well have used them myself (linking from MS) were it not for the bad press within this forum, but others clearly were not aware of the problems.
