Re: Land of Leather - Sales
Hi - yes it's me again!! And I am still waiting for my free dining suite!! Lol said beginning of October. When it didn't arrive they said it would be the following week and when that came and went they then said the end of October! We are now into November! Still no dining suite! Anyone fancy Christmas Lunch 'al fresco'? We could always use the patio table and bench!!

Re: Land of Leather - Sales
I'm 38 weeks pregnant and thanks to Land of Leather it looks like I will shortly have no sofa to rest on! At Easter we bought a corner sofa from them. It arrived damaged, an assessor agreed we needed a replacement but it took until this week for that to be delivered. Only the replacement is also damaged. The delivery driver said if I saw how they treat the sofas in the warehouse I'd know why! That's before he left all the packaging on my patio for me to clear up even though he knew my RAF husband was away. I am expected to get all this bulky stuff in my bin in my condition when I can hardly reach the top of the bin with this belly on me, nevermind lift, and it won't all fit.
Anyway, I phoned the store. They wanted to send another assessor out to see the damage and order yet another replacement. I said I wanted my money back and they said the manager would phone me.
2 days later and I get a call, not from a manager, but from a woman wanting to arrange to collect my sofa asap. I said what about my money and she told me to phone the store. They say they want this damaged sofa back BEFORE they give us our money back. We paid the full price up front by direct debit; not when we got the goods. We also had to wait 7 months for the replacement but when they want a sofa back it's asap.
So I'm 38 weeks pregnant and tomorrow I'll have to travel at least 24 miles to buy a sofa on my credit card this time. I have to hope delivery can be quite quick because if I give Land of Leather this sofa back in order to get my money then I'll have no sofa to sit/lie on for the forseeable future. Anyone who has been 38 weeks pregnant will understand why I cried after I got off the phone. I really don't need this. What a heartless bunch. Any advice welcome.

Re: Land of Leather - Sales
Have you asked for a copy of the paperwork that proves you took out the insurance? I suggest you go to Citizen's Advice. It sounds like Land of Leather are bullying you because you are young.

Re: Land of Leather - Sales
hello I am one of the furniture specialists you mentioned and I can tell you that to convert a three seat to a two seat is really easy. Flip the sofa upside down you will see 4 bolts holding the end section to the metal framework and 4 on the centre section undo all 8 bolts replace the centre section with the end section the cut off unwanted frame bars with a hacksaw

Re: Land of Leather - Sales
Hello Joe, You need to remember the old adage - if it seems too good to be true, then it probably is. The discount furniture trade in general is renowned for this sort of rip off, but Land of Leather are the experts at it. Their stuff is cheap because the quality is poor. If you haven't already done so, then get in touch with Trading Standards and they will guide you. I imagine they will tell you to go to the finance company if you made a credit deal. Legally the chairs will belong to them. But I'm afraid you will find that the one thing these cowboys are good at is making sure they stay just within the rules of contract and the consumers' statutory rights. The most important advice for you or anyone else reading this is: don't go to Land of Leather or any of these places offering unbelievable prices! Best of luck, Richard

Re: Land of Leather - Sales
Hi Kevin, I am an employee of Land of Leather, and would like to say thank you, because all though a very small percentage of people have had problems that are beyond our control, such as manufacturers canceling on us, or customers not reading their legally binding contract before signing it, there are way more customers who do have good experiences, but mainly the bad experiences we hear about on sites like this. So again a BIG thank you for expressing your satisfaction, and wish you future success with your sofa,

Re: Land of Leather - Sales
What nonsense. Land of Leather have a range of delaying tactics to try and stop people getting their furniture repaired, replaced or, worst of all, going to court. For the first six months after purchase it is Land of Leather's responsibility to prove that their goods are fit for purpose, after that it's the customer's responsibility to prove they aren't. That's why you'll never get much sense out of them for at least six months. They work hand-in-glove with Homeserve to make sure any "investigation" of faulty furniture is done entirely on their terms, and then claim to have so-called "independent" reports that any problem is the customer's fault. After that it's your job to get your own investigation done at your own expense, which most people are reluctant to do because of the cost. Note: This post has been moderated. Re: Land of Leather - Sales
I work for land of leather. Here are a few points to help everyone.... 1. Anything under £1000 is not worth having - you get what you pay f want for. 2. Its not six months... its six years! (never read up on anything mate). 3. I would never buy anything from land of leather to be honest even with my discount!! but then i wouldnt by from scs, dfs everyone is the same! 4. That care kit you got "thrown in" with the insurance... you get that anyway. So she wasnt that nice. 5. The insurance is good and i would buy it, but only with orders over £1000! and only if your going to use it. FSA have made them customer frienldy since 2005. 6. Please stop shouting at the staff. they will do much more for you if you talk to them... not just in land of lether... banks, shops anywhere. Stop being so f***ing angry, its a sofa! 7. You have more rights than you know, even without the insurance you have something called the goods act! if you read this you will find out that, customer care last for 6 years, if you feel the goods are not suited for the purpuse then you can claim for a replacement of repair. If they cant repair it they will replacement. 8. The waiting time is silly and it will never get better, but thats how it is so dont buy if you cant wait. 9. Never give a full amount until the day before delivery, only give a 20% deposit or lower if poss. Dont give 100% when you have to wait 16 weeks, if you do that your a donk. sorry if this puts you nose out but this is life, get over it.

Re: Land of Leather - Sales
Thanks for all that info, I wish I had seen it earlier. With your inside knowledge, can you tell me if Land of Leather have a Head Office, or even a complaints department. (if so, where is it) I have spent several hours on the net searching but to no avail. They are clever people! Thanks again

Re: Land of Leather - Sales
I am in full agreement with the remarks on the ill manner staff at land of leather. On boxing day I order a suite for £2,000 plus insurance of £250. We paid our deposit with the balance to be paid when the suite arrived at the depot. This was going to take approximately 14 weeks. Upon checking my insurance I found that the additional policy that I was to purchase from land of leather was duplicated. I telephone the branch - Truro to cancel the policy. The manager promptly telephone me back to inform that I had to return a leather kit that was given as a gift or pay £45 although it was clearly marked on my reciept as free of charge. The manager was so rude that we did nothing just awaited a call from the warehouse. When the call was received we were told that unless we paid the full amount plus either the insurance or the leather kit that they would not delivery my suite. We called the manager of land of leather who point blank refused the payment. We wrote to the head office to inform them of what had happened. We did not get a reply. One week later I wrote again requesting the courtescy of a reply. When the reply came the manager agreed to take our monies and that the leather kit was indeed free of charge. Delivery was arrange for the Monday. We gave our settee away on the Sunday to make room for the delivery. Monday arrived with a call from the driver who told us he had the wrong colour suite on board. Ok mistakes do happen but he assured us delivery would take place on Thursday of that week. We brought two bean bags from the spare room and plonked ourselves down to await Thursday. Another phone call informed us that delivery would not be until the Friday as that was the designated day for our area. By Friday both my husband and myself were feeling very stiff as we are both disabled and found it quite a challenge getting on and off the bean bags!! No telephone call was recieved as we had been promised. Once again we had to telephone the very arrogrant manager who informed us that they did not know were our suite was!! This has just gone on and on, week after week. It is now 18 weeks since we orded the suite and four weeks since they took our £2,000 so I wrote once again to the head office. That was last week and to date I have not had any contact from anyone at Land of Leather. How they have treated us is disgusting with no customer care skills and that starts from the top management. So here we sit on our bean bags, no suite and £2,000 lighter. Tomorrow we are going to see our solicitor who may get a reply from them. All I can advise anyone who is going to deal with this company is do your research first as I would not like anyone to go through the upset that myself and my husband have since we started to deal with land of leather four months ago.

Re: Land of Leather - Sales
Hi, its me again....just to let you know I finally got the free dining suite. However, also to let you know that after buying the suite for my mum, she decided she wanted a chair to match. It should have cost nearly £900. But as I refused to go back to LoL I took her to a wonderful shop on Yarm Road, Stockton, Home Interiors. The salesman there was fantastic. We found a chair for mum, which she sat on for nearly half an hour and was offered a cup of tea and even the evening paper to 'get a feel for it'! Meanwhile I looked aroung their fantastic shop and saw a pod chair for my daughter. Mum fancied a stoolk they had to go with the chair and then a beautful mosaic mirror took er eye. The total cost came to over £1600. However, I haggled with the sales bloke and after a lot of laughter and cringing I got the lot for £900!! Deal or what? He shook my hand and said how much he'd enjoyed our haggling and then threw in free delivery for two days later! Their shop is absolutely wonderful, and, unlike LoL their furniture is excellent quality. Their sales staff MAKE time for you and don't rush you and are polite, curteous and very friendly. If you are in Cleveland, pay them a visit, you'll be pleasantly suprised! I will certainly shop there again, even if I don't get the discount next time (I'll try though), because just looking around the shop is such a pleasure. Susi
