    webfred:

    Hi zizzy

How is your BB set up. It could be there is a problem with the internal wiring in you house. Try this

Put the ADSL line box into the the main BT socket  , and plug the router or BB modem in before it hits any wires in your house. See if the problem is any better.

    I

The ADSL line box is connected to one and only BT socket in my house. it sounds daft, but there is no improvement or help from anywhere.

    zizzy,

Does you modem or router report any line stats (namely attenuation and SNR figures)? If so could you post them here. If you PM me your PlusNet username I can take a look at your account too to make sure nothing's amiss there. I'm about 2.32km from my exchange and tend to get between 3-3.5Mbps.

    Kind Rgds,

    Kind Rgds,

i have already given my Username to chriscotterill in the second page of this thread, he looked at my account and said there is nothing wrong from "their" end.

the connection speed between my laptop and router is about 54MB.

i don't think it is of any use now as i have notified PlusNet of my desire to leave.

    cheers.

    Re: Ask PlusNet Thread

If it's a fault on the line such as damage, oxidation, being split between you and the house next door or the ringer wire being connected, then I dont think you'll see any improvement by switching to a new ISP.. It's like living in a farm down an old dirt track full of potholes, and ringing up Mitsubishi to say that your Shogun 4x4 has a very bumpy ride, and if they dont do something about it, youre going to buy a Range Rover instead.. Would you have them come and lay a new road to your farm?

Have you spoken to BT? Run line tests? Had an engineer visit?

Are you also aware that just because your neighbour gets a good speed, it isnt guaranteed that you will? You might not even be connected to the same exchange, or have the same distance to your exchange (wires dont run as the crow flies, remember)

Good luck with your new ISP though!

    Re: Ask PlusNet Thread

I'm in a similar situation as dents, in that been with Plusnet for about 5 years paying something like 24.99 or more.

We were thinking of leaving as thought the price is too high and have found the speeds not so fast.

How can we check speed of data in/out?

and what options new deals do Plus net currently have? and more importantly what is the minimum contract length?

and what is your telephone number for customer support?

    Thanks

    Overnight usage????

What does it mean when it says "free overnight usage (midnight - 8am)" in the specification for option one?

    Re: Overnight usage????

'Free overnight usage' means that any downloads or usage between midnight and 8am isn't attributed to your monthly allowance.

    Re: Overnight usage????

Just like to add, just purchased plus net option 2 for my mum and i am very impressed with the service. Router arrived in a few days, activation of the line a day early, switched on and online. Brilliant. I am with pipex myself but would definately change to plusnet. Never heard of them before i came on moneysupermarket.com. Thanks.
