    phones4u

my daughter got a lg phone in dec 06 from phones for u.the phone keeps switching its self off occassionly ,reception is poor for the phone, been in touch with vodaphone in my area reception is excellent.so took phone back to phones4u to get it checked out ,bearing in mind this phone is only 3 months old, they had it checked out said nothing wrong and charged me £17.63 to get the phone back,i rang said i was'nt paying as they sent a letter out saying there was a fault ,when i said this they replied its a standard letter they send out to all customer who send phones to be checked for repair or not, there terms and conditions state that there is a charge if no fault found but as the phone still switches its self off i refuse to give it back to phones4u as i will be charged if no fault found, there terms also state that there will be no charge if a fault is found yet i have there standard letter saying there is a fault,i have paid the money to get the phone back as they threatend to dipose of the phone if not collected within 60 days, rang there customer services what a bunch of idiots they were ,there automated people all said they same thing to the letter, asked for the managing directors name and telephone number no joy there as there managing director does not and will not deal with customer complaints,so at present my daughter has a phone that dos'nt work as it should do and there is no redress ,she is contracted to phones 4 u for 18 months, well PHONES4U your a totally horrid company to deal with and i had the satisfaction of going into the branch sitting there and talking over the phone to your customer services somewhere in la la land but not in a quiet voice and potentional customers walked out with out purchasing ..well phones4u for £17.63 you have lost business well in excess of a thousand pounds as i would'nt recommend you to my friends or relatives ,is there anyway i can (a)get my money back (b)get the phone repaired without a charge....many thanks bigbaz

    Re: phones4u

    Morning,

Christ, where do I start with Phones4U.. I bought a Razor in June or July last year, took it home and was setting up 2 really simple things..
    1) Press 1 for Voicemail
    2) WAP

After an hour on the phone to Deli I ended up with a customer service 'agent' shouting at me!!! first thing Sunday I was back in the shop and told them I wasnt impressed with the customer service and wanted my money back To be fair the problem so far was with Vodaphone not them, so I thought they would understand my situation.

Rightly so, the guy offered to swap me to another price plan with Orange (who Ive been with for about 5ys) although it would cost me £30 more and Id have to return all the freebies.
I said no I could get a better deal directly from Orange and he told me I should have checked 1st and its not his problem!!!!!
After half hour to his regional manager on the phone, basically kissing my a**e I said Im not interested I want to cancel and finally (2 hours after Id walked in there) I got the contract cancelled.

    Dont go near them!

That my rant done! In answer to your question you are well within your rights with the manufacturers warranty - Call them again and quote that it isnt 'Fit for purpose' you should be able to change it on that. My friend has a Nokia phone with no insurance - when it broke he did that and got a new one within a few days (he works in a warranty team for a well known IT company so knows his stuff)
Providing its a fault with the phone (i.e. not a broken screen, hasnt been dropped or lost)

    Good luck mate
    Paul

    Phones4U = Rip-Off and Bad service

    Leave them well alone ...

    Re: phones4u

Strange that seeing as : A - Vodafone don't have any call centres outside the uk

B - Vodafone voicemail is on 191 not 1 as you state

C - No phones 4u store needs to speak to a regional manager to cancel a contract unless it is outside seven days they could authorise this in store if anything they would speak to a retentions dept.

At least get the facts right if you are going to take the time to write a rant.

    Re: phones4u

Ok I take on board your comments..

    but got to say...

    A) They werent in the UK - might be a situation that after a certain time/on certain days the call centre reverts to 'overseas' as does my girlfriends bank (If she has a problem on the weekend she waits until Monday after 9am) but they clearly couldnt understand a word I said, and I didnt understand them either.

    B) My question was actually 'How do I auto-dial voicemail by holding down the 1 key' NOT 'what number do I dial'

But Either way they didnt say either of these... so still unhelpful.

AND C) Phones 4 U lied to me about what they were up to! They told me that they needed authorisation to cancel the contract..... and I believed them

So in summary - the call centre WAS foreign, they didnt understand or help me on the helpdesk, and the management in the branch lied.

Appreciate your comments, but I have got my facts straight mate....I was there! and Im not the only one who think Phones 4 U are poo.
