O2 - no coverage in my area, breach of t&c?

    Hello,

I took an O2 contract phone from Dial-a-phone a few months ago. I was never told that the coverage of O2 in my area was poor. I checked the coverage map on the website and it showed it was fine. But it's not. I hardly use my phone since I work form home and there isn't any coverage in 2 mile radius of my home.

I called O2 a few times and they told me they were aware of the problem and are trying to fix it. Well, 8 months down the line and I still don't have any coverage.

Do you think I can ask them for compensation and cancel my contract on tha basis? I's paying for 500 minutes which I can't use....

    Thanks.

If the coverage map was shown on the O2 website, I think it is not unrealistic to cancel your contract and ask for some sort of rebate. It wont hurt to contact them and explain your situation. You have been informed by 02 that they are fixing the problem and they clearly havent.

I dont know the legalities of the situation, and I would recommend that you seek some legal advice if refused by 02.

Throughly check the terms and conditions to see if there is anything in there related to your problem.

Hi there, i bet they will turn round and say that they cant guarantee coverage in every area so that will cover them so you wont be able to cancel in-term as that is in the T's&C's

I would like to live in a world were chickens can cross the road without being questioned.

    Hi,

If they can't guarantee coverage what can they guarantee??? Especially in an area where they say they have excellent coverage? If they knew about the problem, why didn't they say so when I took the contract?

I had a massive problem finding any postal address of O2 but I managed to fing one in the end. I sent them a complaint letter a few days ago, I'll keep you posted on what happens ;))
