    Loan Advice

    Hello,

    Possibly a silly question:

I am wanting to get a loan for consolodation purposes and home improvements (10k on each). My credit file is good, 1 late c.card payment. My wife's in a bit of a mess, she defaulted on next directory (although all paid off about 1-2 months later). I take it when the loan people do a credit check, they will check us both out for a secured loan since the house is in both our names?

Is it possible for them to just check mine since she doesnt work anyway and it's my salary that will be paying it?

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks in advance

    FREDDIE

    Hi Fred,

Ive just started a job at a bank and we sell loans. From what i gather on my training they will automatically check you both unless you state otherwise. So possibly if you state you wish just yours to be checked they can only check yours. Is the loan going to be soley in you name? If so then im pretty sure thats the case. hope this helps xx

    Hey

As you and your wife have a joint mortgage you are financial associates, so any credit check made on either of you will automatically take into account the other. As far as i know there is no way around this while you both share any financial commitment.
