    loan for home improvements.........

    Good afternoon ..........

I have recently had an offer accepted for a property, and the mortgage application is going through now.

We need to get a loan for home improvements however, and wondered when is best to apply? We want a seperate unsecured loan.

Obviously we dont want to jeopordise the mortgage application - but need to know also that we can actually get the loan to do the property up, as it is unliveable at present.

Your thoughts please? seems a bit of catch 22 to me.

    Regards.

If you don't want the mortgage without the loan, you should make the loan application as soon as possible. Assuming that you are not in Scotland, it is possible (but not popular with the other people involved) to withdraw the offer anytime before completion if, for example, you can't get the finance.
