I try to leave behind cold grey UK during Jan/Feb for a bit of wintersun! being on my own I find single supplements expensive. I went to Malta last year but temperatures were not much better than here, so far thats the only country I have found prices that match my budget. I would like to go to either Cyprus of Portugal for 6 weeks at the end of Jan. Does anyone know of cheap places to stay for a desperate pensioner?

of year.Not too crowded & cost of living is cheaper than U.K.

Try Praia da Oura on the Algarve Portugal. Sereia da Oura Apts, or Santa Eulalia Beach Club, both have web sites. We go every year Jan - March and have very pleasant weather.
