    Vodafone SMS problems

Since Thursday night now i havn't been able to text anyone, i called vodafone as its still on going and they said the problem is still on going, my mate said that vodafone seem to have more "technical faults" than the other networks do.

I was told that some companies have a rule where as if you are without call service or sms service for longer than so many days, you can cancel your contract and they have to waiver the end of termination charges due to the problem not been resolved within a certain timescale does anyone know if this is true? Is anyone else getting this problem?

You need to give them a reasonable chance to put things right and send them a few letters before you can justify cancelling a contract.

There is a section in the T&Cs you received which tells you when you can cancel penalty free. Or how about phoning OFCOM for information/advice?

    Re: Vodafone SMS problems

    Hi Wolfenstein

We have been having problems with our text message service over the last few days. This has mainly resulted in users being advised their message hasn't been delivered when infact it had. We've implemented a fix this afternoon which should have resolved the problems and we're currently testing it to ensure it has done.

I wouldn't say Vodafone suffer from any more network faults than any other network but I guess I would say that!

Normally the service has to be permanently removed before your agreement would be cancelled, rather han a temporary fault.

    Re: Vodafone SMS problems

Thanks for telling me that dwlu, i found it went further than that, i was texting my partners number and she had a vodafone PAYT number, my text were also not going through to her but she was OK to text me, this happened for a while and i was told different things all of the time, it wasn't a problem on my end it was a problem on her end, she'd check with PAYT and they said no it isn't, then i was told it was her phone, anyway with the text messaging going down aswell and not been able to text my partner all weekend and she lives in different county i reached the end of my tether and disconnection fee or no disconnection fee i have put in 30 days written notice anyway with vodafone and joined O2, i can text her no problem!!!!

I am going to bring this issue up though to see if i can get a reduction in the termination charge, i'm not greedy and don't expect the whole thing to be taken off but i do think they should take something off due to the problems i've had for a couple of month texting this particular number and text not getting through properly, in the meantime i've done what customer services advised, move down to the lowest plan if i won't be using the phone anymore. The only thing i will say though dwlu is cause of this text problem there's 5 or 6 of my friends and others who have done the same as me and written disconnection letters to go elsewhere, now including my partner aswell.

Thanks for your help dwlu, and this is nothing against you but once over vodafone used to be a top notch network and they seem to be going downhill as of late with increasing problems, and getting beat on deals by the other networks, well people are saying to me that they are getting problems all the time.

    Yours sincerely
