    T mobile contract

How do I: change a contract with T Mobile from one mobile telephone number to another and / or ...

Cancel my contract (6 months at least to run) with T Mobile WITHOUT paying £89 and / or

Unlock a Nokia 95 from T Mobile so that I can take out another contract with a DIFFERENT supplier?

The reason: I do not wish my 16 year old son ( d.o.b. 29.2.92) to pay £10 every Friday to T Mobile for unlimited weekend text messages.

T Mobile have another, recent, deal available which will sort out all my problems, but I cannot take it on as I am not a new customer.

In short, we are stuck with a brilliant mobile phone which my son cannot use as he wishes; I cannot change the contract and cannot afford to buy another such contract/mobile phone.

Any/all brilliant ideas will be gratefully received.

PS I have been a member of Moneysupermarket for more than 3 years - but forgot my password. This is why it shows I only joined today!

    Re: T mobile contract

unfortunately thats the problem with entering into a contract. It makes sure they get paid for the duration of the contract. certain phone shops will unlock the phone allowing you to insert a new sim card, however there is no way of cancelling the existing contract.

Also im not exactly sure how you would transfer the mobile number over to a new provider as its still register to an existing contract.

My advice would be to continue to use the phone for next 6 months then opt for a sim only contract which is normally on a month to month rolling contract which can be cancelled with a months notice

    Re: T mobile contract

I've answered a similar question to this before and Adam23Newcastle has pretty much said exactly how it is. You need a legitimate reason that the contract you have now has not been fulfilled properly to look for early cancellation - you aren't saying this, you just want a different one. Either pay the 'early cancelling fee' or wait for it to get to the point where you can end it for free (some providers allow to upgrade/change tarriffs with one month remaining).

You can unlock your phone anytime you want. Some sites online will tell you how to do it, some retail shops will do it for a fee or you can find in your local street market a vendor that can do it. Keep in mind you may be losing your insurance benefits if you do it, so check that out first.

With regards to taking your telephone number to another network, quite simply you can't if it is tied to a running contract. You can move it (by getting your PAC code from your network) when you notify them of your cancellation of the current contract.

Everybody who has a mobile will see a deal that is better than the one they are currently paying. That is what the consumer market is all about - it'll happen in 6 months time too.
