British Gas price guarantee until December 09

New price guarantee 2009 is charging 9.8%above current sv rate. As we were on previous price guarantee 2008, this will mean a price rise of C 15% from previous rate. plus 9.8%.

Is this good value or are we better to try for a cap or fixed rate with someone else? I have read that rates are forecast to rise by a further 10% this year.

Prices are forecast to rise, yes, and if I were you, I'd just switch to someone else instead of British Gas!

    milly ann,

The best thing to do is use the comparison tool by clicking on the 'Gas & Electricity' tab at the top of this page. Enter all your current details and see which product offers you the best price. If you are purely looking for "fixed" tariffs then you will need to select the 'Capped/Fixed' button at the bottom of the enquiry page where you enter your details.

    Hope this helps.
