    Nildram - contract

What is the difference between "Contract Period" and "Notice Period" - with respect to a Contract with an ISP ?

According to Nildram (with whom I have been for almost five years - I upgraded to their 25Gb LITE service and had to sign a 12 month contract with them - I queried this (because as far as I was aware

Nildram never required anyone to be tied in for more than 30days) and on checking the T&C, I see that I m on a 12 month contract with a 30 day notice period...

I asked "SUPPORT" - Who have gone downhill since they have been taken over by Tiscali and were unable (or unwilling) to give me an answer

Hi --- Contract period is the minimum length of time that you both agree to have the agreement in force, 12 months in your case.

Notice period is the minimum amount of notice required to end the service once the contract has expired naturally, after the above 12 months minimum contract period.

There had to be the 12 month initial "tie in" otherwise there would not be a point in having a 12 month contract that you could just end after 30 days. !!

    Re: Nildram - contract

Thats what I had assumed - however the contract should NOT be for 12 months - since as a long term customer - I simply extended the contract - I requested an upgrade - so why should I be tied to them for another 12 months minimum - check their website www.nildram.net and show me the T&C that allow them to set my minimum contract of another 12 months

In fact - Nildram have always prided themselves by only requiring a 30 day tie in period

Hi -- If you've got a spare weekend to look through all the pdf files on their T&C's you will more than likely see a clause where it refers to an agreed upgrade of the service kick-starting a new 12 month contract period automatically, I know some firms including BT operate on that principle....although it is not very open or transparent.

Phone them and ask what number clause refers to them being able to do this, if they cannot provide the number write and tell them unless they can point it out to your satisfaction ...that you wish to cancel.
