hi was wondering if anyone had any info on this company. They have rung my next door neighbour (after having got her number from the telephone book) and asked if my partner lived next door to her and pestering our neighbour who is elderly for our telephone number . they number they rang off is 08453010229.

i find it hard to believe that they are able to do this and advice would be great thanks.

Nuisance calls can be (mostly) stopped by registering with the telephone preference service www.tpsonline.org.uk

Just had a look on their website. Seems they are a debt manangement company who deal in tracing people (who must owe people money).

If your partner has no outstanding debts then there is no need to worry, I would talk to them and see what they want, explaining that they have no business chasing you.

I agree that it's a bit mean hassling anyone (especially elderly) for someone's details.

i typed the telephone number that they contacted me off in google and a forum came up where everyone is complaning similar things happening to them.

are they allowed to ontact my next door neighbour seems very silly when we are on the electoral register.

nic --- Under the data protection act they cannot discuss a persons debt with a third party, they also are not allowed to call you at unreasonable intervals or at unreasonable times of day, this amounts to harrassment under the, "administration of justices act" which you could remind them is an offence under the OFT rules, for which a complaint will be made if their illegal practice does not stop immediately.

Incidentally what is this debt for and how long since anything was paid, or it was last acknowledged by your partner. ?

PS --- Basically they buy old debts cheaply then try and "strongarm" enforce them, skipping over the legal guidelines in their effort to recover them and make a profit for themselves.

the debt is for £100 for a three contract phone i had big argument with three over eight months ago when i ended the contract with them and added my partner onto my contract.

three said they would take some money of the bill for all the trouble that i had had with them and that was the last i head over eight months ago and now i have wescot ringing my next door neighbour at three o clock this afternoon pestering her for my telephone number. this is the first that i have heard in eight months no letters to my own address nothing

Hi --- Write a letter of strong complaint to 3 ....... sent recorded delivery to their customer services, explain that the last time you spoke they agreed to knock something off the bill and that nothing has been done, except to illegally harass your poor elderly next door neighbour contrary to the data protection act.

Tell them that to stop this matter proceeding further by you complaining to the OFT...... that you expect them to completely waive this debt by writing back to you and informing Wescot the debt is cleared, where upon receipt of this letter you will buy your poor neighbour a nice bunch of flowers and a box of chocolates as a way of apologising to her on their behalf, letting them know that they should be ashamed of theirselves by employing agencies who conduct business in this shameful manner.

i myself have had dealings with them a few years ago and they are very rude at wescot swarig down the phone etc

I understand that, people on here have had similar problems don't let them get to you or your neighbour, if they do call again tell them 3..... is dealing with a letter of appeal and if they ring you or more importantly..... illegally call your neighbour, that you will report them to the OFT ....who have the powers to fine or suspend / revoke their credit licence.

If Wescot get in touch with you ask for a fax number to fax over "documentation", then fax your letter a couple of times to them.

They harrased me over previous tenants who had done a runner and in the property I was renting and despite my suggestions that they contact the local council for further information on these people, Wescot found it easier to keep calling me and sending me threatening letters. Waste!

they are an absolute joke another forum i went on has non stop people complaining about them for doing the same thing.

they are just out for a bit of profit on top of the debt

Confron these people - my daughter and son in law had a letter from them yesterday for gas used December 2005 - March 2006 at an address they lived at previously. The only problem was they left this address in June 2005 some six months before this bill was created!!!

They have sent all relevant documentation stating when they left the property - they have also asked for a written apology!!

They will go to any lengths to recover money - so nothing surprises me!

Confront them as they have broken the Data Protection Act and goodness knows what other legalities - this can be reported to Data Protection Society

wescot are the meanest debt chasers i know

they chased me because 02 HAD CANCELLED my contract after i lost my phone 6 days after signing up and so i refused to pay anything but the cost of the phone.

Wescot threated legal action over a missed £10 monthly payment which i agreed to pay to 02 before they just passed on the debt.

As far as chasing debts via third partys as conman killer says is a breach of data protection as they are not even allowed to say mr x has dealings with them unless mr x gives auth to a certain person to deal with the account.

as far as sending a letter to 3 ,it will end up in the nearest indian call centre bin they can throw it in.
