    Please beware!

I moved 50 yards across the road about a year ago and had the shock of my life when I discovered More Than had increased my contents insurance premium by 5 times.

Yes, I probably had a letter through the post advising me of the change in charges and yes, I should have been more alert when studying my bank statements but if I help one person falling into a similar trap then I'll be relieved.

    Re: Please beware!

Tell me about it. I moved from a 1 bedroom 1st floor property to a 2 bedroom, 2nd floor property, the difference in value was approx 30k.

This was an unbelievable jump.I thought it was a mistake so rang them to be told it was because of a high subsidence risk. Interesting excuse seeing as I was able to get a mortgage, there are no subsidence issues and a property developer is in the process of building blocks 3 and 4 of a huge 800 room development.

I've typed in the details on various comparison websites and the More Than quote is totally laughable. Way way way more than their nearest competitor.

Do not under any circumstances consider approaching this company!!!!!

Sounds like they seriously need to overhaul their postcode selection reports and analysis thingumybob, it's times like this that make shopping around for savings really worthwhile.

Is that what you ended up doing, if so.... who did you switch to and how much did you manage to save. ?

I switched to Legal and General and now pay in a year what I was paying in a month.

I've been to the press, they love the story.

Hmm, yes Legal and General will be cheaper and will provide better cover than More Than anyway.

Not too sure why you wasted the press' time with the story though?! Mind you, they've written about more uninteresting things I suppose lol!

    Kind Regards,
