I had a claim mid 2007 where my neighbours roof from 2 house away leaked and water damaged my house and that of my immediate neighbour. Speaking to the owners of the house, a housing association, they accepted liability and advised I go through my insurance company to make a claim. My insurance company also agreed with this process. I got the datilas of the housing association and their insurance details across to my insurance company as requested and the claim was concluded in February 2008.
I now want to change insurance company and realised that my former insurance company have raised this claim against me and have not recovered the claim from the housing association's insurance company. This has affected my no claims discount. The new insurance company has advised that I go back to my former insurance company and have them clear my details from the database before they can accept what I have said.
I have now called my former insurance company and they have just told me that they are requesting the file from the loss adjuster but are not giving any assurance of recovery and that the claim will remain against my name till recovery is achieved. Please what can I do to proceed to clear my records on these.
Thanks
