    Mis sold a phone contract

    Hi all,

Three weeks ago my Wife popped into the p4u Overgate,Dundee store, she ended up there as our previous contract was about to run out and p4u had called to inform us of that fact. She asked for the best deal she could get, the sales assistant must have thought she said, "can I have the best deal for your shop" or "I have a tad too much money and need to off load some". She was given two 3 contracts (1100 mix & match deal), This sales kid done his best to get £45 per set out of my Wife and we got two contracts, £27 for the contract, £9.99 for the "insurance" £8 for a VAS charge and this was times 2 making a total of £90.00 out my bank every four weeks. Now the day after my Wife got this deal I received a nasty letter from a debt company in Manchester demanding £650 for an Orange phone?, well it comes to light that last November 2007 my Wife popped into p4u and did get an Orange contract, all was well, but a few days later I lost one of my own work contracts, I am self employed and with the onset of Christmas I asked my Wife to take the phone back, all again was well but p4u never canceled the phone, hence the whopping bill from a recovery company, we got the bill sorted that day but I have become to lost faith in this outfit. Now back to the deal now on, I used the 3 phone for three days then the phone had a problem, it come to light that the shop had given me the shop sim and that they would order a new one, this was three weeks ago now and still no sim, again I have lost faith. Now I am so angry at this Dundee store, I start to have a look at the deal she got for £90, I called the store and asked what the VAS charge was, no one knew, I then popped into the store with the two phones and asked them to take them back, I also had a £250 cheque for them as it was a cash back deal we got, he refused the cheque. The shop Manager did not know what VAS was either, I have since found out that the VAS is a video call bolt on, now my Wife is 40, and could sit for the next year trying to make a video call, she would never had asked for a vid-call bolt on, as for £360 for the insurance, I bought a brand new VW car six months ago and the insurance is exactly half that cost, I also looked at the insurance agreement, it was £9.99, but £2.00 of that is a monthly service charge, service charge for what I wondered. I have also had 14 missed calls from a 01782 673000 number in the past week telling me its time to upgrade my phone, this number was from a phones 4u call centre, talk about a hard sell. I handed the phones back today 05/05/08, the store manager "Andy" said I will start to receive letters asking me to come and collect the phones, we called phones4u last week, they gave us a ref number, told us to take that down to the store, have the manager to call us and we will get it sorted out,,,they went back on there word and blamed 3 for us not being able to hand back the sets and once we call three, they blame phones4u. my next move is to contact my member of Parliament and seek legal representation to get this sorted out, Andy in the store also told me to contact his boss, Michael at Phones 4u House, Ore Close,Lymedale Business Park. Newcastle-Under-Lime, Staffordshire. ST5 9QD. Had my Wife walked into the 3 store during April she could have got two sets with 3400 minutes or text or a mix of both for £40 per month and thats for the two phones, £20 each, now thats a good deal and not £90 per month. Here is something for thought, car insurance 12 months, term at school or college/Uni 12 months, car road tax 12 months, tax year 12 months, TV license 12 months, Gym membership 12 months, warranty on a purchase 12 months,,,,phone contract 18 months??? this is what happens when you allow an industry to govern themselves, its far over due that this mobile phone industry is needing taken to boot, they are running a mock and taken the UK public for a bunch of fools.
    Best Regards,
    Irvine.
