Unlocking a Pension Fund to release funds

Hi all.... Can someone explain to me please whether or not I am able to unlock a group stakeholder pension which I had through my previous job? I paid into it for about two years and I have about £14000 in there however since changing companies I have for the last 5 years or so made no contributions and only contracted out contributions have been made into it?

I pay into my current pension which I will continue to do but I would really like to unlock this one if possible.

    Many thanks in advance

    Chris

Chris --- For impartial professional and accurate advice on pensions, for the cost of a local phone call ask the Pensions advisory service, the pension regulations are a minefield.
