    Ptivate Dental care fee

    Hi Paul,

read your article "Why the tooth hurts for the NHS" with added interest;currently undergoing and crown procedure. My Dentist is reasonably competent and until Aprill this year I enjoyed NHS service but, saddly he's gone private. My wife is right, if I value my teeth, and I do, then continue with him. Right. Your article seems to be making a case to go with private as the cost difference is marginal. I have to agree going by your figures. However ,I will be charged a princely sum of £500.21 for a single eye tooth crown, not particularly big; Question, am I being royally fleeced by this individual? Additionally, the fee coming to my attention after the treatment started also seems to me......unfair, thus not allowing me to consider my options. Is this underhand practice prevalent or is this a one of case?

It's good business practice to state the price before you agree to the work being done. My dentist states the price of any work at the check-up stage
