quoted low but then different story on the other web site - has this happened to anyone else??

I just had a great quote on this website for about 270 quid. Then I was redirected to the actual insureres (post office) but was then quoted a completely different total of over 300!! Is this normal? Has this happened to anyone else?? Is it all just a farce? What the point in these comparison sites if they just pull numbers out of a hat?

    Someone please clarify this!!

    Hi there,

You should read the following MoneySupermarket explanation to this: http://www.moneysupermarket.com/community/forums/t/accurate-car-insurance-quotes-17779.aspx

I'm not necessarily in 100% agreement with it, but 80% of it sounds accurate. Bare in mind that it will NOT be the Post Office that is increasing it's rates, the information getting through to them is not sufficient enough to provide you with an accurate quotation.

    Kind Regards,

    Vicissitude

No...It's not a farce. I'm one of the people you call to set up a policy after you see it on this site. When you call we must confirm all information you have entered on the comparison site. Around 90% of the time details are incorrect and the price reflects this. All I can say is take more time when filling out the questions and read them in FULL! =)

Sir, Post office again. I have driven a company car for over 20 years. Looking for a company who would accept my no claims. First 2 on my list would not. Fair enought their policy. Post office quote £160. I knew this was too good to be true. To actually be insured it was £280. There was some confusion as to the no claims on the webb so rang. Placed the order with the operator. I stressed probabaly 5 time that I had company car no claims.

I recieved the papers and returned them with proof of no claims required. I then have a phone call from a 12 year old. All I understood was "only 5 years" "£54 more". I assumed thay wanted more money so asked for a supervisor. It was confirmed they wanted £54 more. I explained that I stressed with the operator the situation which produced not just the quote but the sale.

The supervisor listened to the tapes of my call and agreed I didn't have to pay. Had I not insisted I would be £54 light.
