    Farewell to our Rock Group

It has been a great pleasure to correspond with you all - even Richie Rich - throughout this difficult time.

    SHARK!

Re: Farewell to our Rock Group

    Hiya everyone,

Just thought i'd let you know what I know...it's my last day Rocking today. Can't decide if I'm sad about it or not, to be honest. It's a really weird feeling to be going at last.

I have a new job in a design and communications agency, in client acquisition (it basically amounts to a professional schmoozer- great fun) so I am taking my teeny redundancy payout and running. Because NR's loans operation has been outsourced, some people have been waiting for a redeployment opportunity that has suddenly disintegrated at the 11th hour, much to their abject terror. We are officially redundant as of Monday and this news has only come to light today, so a lot of the guys here are frightened. It's a horrible time to work in the financial sector- some people have gone to work for other banks and are scared that it'll all happen again; last one in and all that.

TBS-Saosin has stayed within our company (the outsourcing company that is, but not NR) and is working at another site doing computery analytical things for the various clients we have, apparently very well. SM I'm unsure about, he's living it up in Rhodes. Richie, after weeks of nonchalance, is now looking a little peaky as he hasn't found anything yet- he's trying though and if he can keep a lid on the 'challenging' aspects of his personality he might just manage!

I will keep dropping in to see what's what. I'm off to Barcelona on Sunday and start my new job a week on Monday, mad times, but I have the net in my new place so you haven't seen the last of Tother!

    Hope everyone is alright :)

Re: Farewell to our Rock Group

    Thanks for the update, tother.

It's really good to hear how everyone is getting on. I'm sure Richie will find something in the near future - our thoughts are with him [yes, I'm sure even Landshark's!].

Enjoy Barcelona [great place!] and all the very best of luck in the new job. I've worked in a few design and communications agencies in my time, so if I can help with anything, just let me know. Definitely keep us all up to date on how it's all going, keep in touch and pop in whenever you can. I'm sure everyone agrees that it's not been the same in recent weeks without our NR group. :o(

Enjoy your last day! Think of the freedom... ;o)

Re: Farewell to our Rock Group

Thanks Graeme, freedom is definately what it's about. Freedom from a stricken bank and a stricken banking sector!

I have no idea how to do this new job of mine but they don't seem to be bothered by that, so neither am I. If MS.com needs any jazzy events then let me know, that would be a right chuckle, lol :)

I'll be visiting regularly, I love this forum, haven't coped well without my daily fix :)

Re: Farewell to our Rock Group

I'll definitely keep you in mind, tother!

I occasionally think that a moneysupermarket community meet-up might be an idea one of these days. I can foresee arguments about where it would be though...!

Glad to hear you'll still be around - I think we'd all miss the Xmas poem thread - which just has to be an annual event! ;o)

I agree with that one!! :)

re. the community meeting up, I think it would be hilarious- everyone will have their own ideas about what we are all like. It would be fun to see if we could work out who is who!! Richie would be instantly identified by his American accent, mind you :)

    Fab idea.

Are you sure that it would only be Rich's accent that would give him away????

Re: Farewell to our Rock Group

Tother, my dear literary friend, glad you have got something sorted.

Do enjoy Barcelona, I was there last November and it was fab. Although a run-in with a bunch of young working girls was something I'd rather forget!

No need to worry about not knowing how to do your job - I've been muddling through, pretending to speak confidently about things I have no clue about for the last 10 years.

Make sure you do stick around, it has been worryingly quiet in here over the last month or so.

    A.

Re: Farewell to our Rock Group

Working girls?!! I presume you mean the shady end of La Ramblas? Are you sure they weren't trannies? ;-)

I too have muddled through all my life. I am horribly underqualified for the position I am about to take but they liked me and apparently that's enough. We'll see.

Oh, and DD- Richie's accent would give him away but his actual words would probably clarify it too!! :)
