Southern Electric are, like most of them, uninterested in customer service. I am sitting in dread as I await my next bill as they changed my meter earlier in the quarter and I am expecting this to show a massive jump in prices.
Have you had your meter changed? Have you kept records of your consumption? Are there any new bits of equipment in the house that may use more power?
I keep a spreadsheet of every utility that is used and I watch for problems or 'jumps' in usage. 9 times out of 10 the 'jump' is an over-zealous 'estimated' reading which can be corrected. However, we have had a few occasions where someone locally has had a meter changed and it has proven to be the case that the old meter was not accurate and the poor homeowner now faces increased bills - not because their habits have changed. Couple this with the increased cost of fuel and inflation and there's naff all you can do about it.
There is a school of thought that says if you switch from one to another and then to another, you will make some savings, but I simply cannot see that. All the time and energy you expend in researching and going through the changes negates any saving you make unless it is substantial, and that is becoming increasingly rare.
SHARK!
