    Tariff

    Hi,

I have just used the comparison for Gas & Electricity and I have an issue with it. It claims it can save me £200 with one supplier yet when you actually go in to that suppliers Tariff details all their pence per kWh prices are higher than I am currently paying, approx 25% higher. So where is this £200 saving?

Now this comparison may be okay for most customers but I like to go deeper than just going with what the software tells me and I am sure that I am not alone in this. So could we please have an advanced view/grid that will show these tariff prices and I can compare the this way rather than the soiftware telling me what is obviously incorrect?

    Thanks,

    Re: Tariff

    mmmm..... No answer.

Is there a grid view of all the tariffs that I can use and why does the comparison tool tell me that I can save money when, upon further inspection, it would appear that I will not. Something strange going on here.

    Cheerrs,

    stigmatura,

    Sorry late response.

Can you confirm which tariff it is that you are referring to so that we can investigate further.

    Re: Tariff

    Hi,

Currently I am with EDF on their Online V3 dual fuel tariiff which is 13.67p per kWh for the first 240 hours and 8.13p thereafter for electricity. I am a very low user of gas so I am not concerned about the gas prices.

I have just checked again and again the comparison tool tells me my greatest saving is with NPower and indicates that I could save an estimated £185 annually..

However, viewing the tariff details for their Sign Online 10 they charge 13.4p kWh for the first 728 hours and 10.58p thereafter. Perhaps I am missing something but I just can't see where the saving could be.

This was why I asked for the grid view of these tariff details so I, and pehaps others, could compare manually.

    Thanks

    Re: Tariff

    stigmatura,

The figures you have provided tell me you are in the Scottish Power region i.e. South Scotland. Looking at the rate card for this tariff you are comparing EDF unit rates exluding VAT against Npower unit rates inclusive of VAT. On our site you will see at the bottom of the tariff details page where unit rates are shown that we state "Including VAT".

The EDF rates are therefore 14.35p and 8.54p. I'm not sure where the 240 hours comes from but the correct figure should be 900kwh. This is therefore the threshold before you move over to Tier 2 rates i.e. 8.54p.

If you send me your consumption figures for both gas and electric I'll explain the calculation.
