    help, please

i've just insured my car using this website, could someone tell me why the qoute was 800 pound when the actual price was 1000?

i went on someone else's insurance as well, as a named driver, a few days before we rang the insurance company we sent off the vehicle licsencing forms off how long should it be before we get those back?

who's insurance i've gone on says he has either 7 or 8 years of no claimsand he isn't entirely sure, how do we check this? and does it make a difference if we got it wrong?... will the insurance then be valid?

because the car has no tax and the lisencing forms are probably in a pile of forms somewhere, and we haven't been issued a cover note yet, what would be the fastest way to tax the car so it could be driven as soon as? however we do have the car M.O.T"d which should save just a little time and money :D .... your help would be much appreciated :D x

You should check that you are happy with the price before confirming and paying for the insurance. It's unfortunately quite common for insurance companies to promise something (like quote matching or special deals for women drivers) then not to deliver.

If you made a mistake on the proposal form the policy may not be valid until its been corrected. The NCB should be quoted on the last renewal form or you can contact the last insurer to confirm. There is likely to be an extra charge to correct any details.

If you have insured the car with someone else named as the main driver and the car is really just for you, then the policy is not valid. The insurance companies are often happy to take money in these circumstances but they wont pay out for any claim.

You cannot get a tax disc without insurance although you don't need a cover note/certificate. You can either wait for the cover note/certificate to arrive then get a tax disc at a larger post office branch or you can order the tax disc online and wait for it to arrive through the post. My guess is that the first option will be quicker.

LOL. Of course they are happy to take the money if they don't know about the circumstances due to non-disclosure! Sheesh. Insurer's are not mind readers, which is why they set the rules in stone before somebody proceeds to incept a policy.,

In my view it doesn't take a mind reader to work out what is happening when a young driver insures a vehicle in someone else's name without knowing the NCB details. Who is filling in the forms anyway?

Which is precisely why the better companies make the appropriate investigation pre-inception and adjust the details from the internet quotation. Of course, you will probably have something negative to say towards this too! It does make one wonder what people would deem 'acceptable' in their ideal dream world. Whatever the answer, it wouldn't work!
