There doesn’t seem to be any let up in the bad news. The CBI has revised its growth forecast downwards, the governor of the Bank of England has admitted the credit crunch has entered a “new and difficult phase” and borrowers face further misery as the country’s two largest mortgage lenders, Halifax and Nationwide, have hiked their mortgage rates significantly. The Government is still fairly optimistic, and says the economy will grown by between 1.75% and 2.25% this year, but do you agree?
