Manage to open a C & G Cheltenham Gold a/c at C& G . No D/D but you can pay benifit in and withdraw , no card and only with passbook can't find any bank . Nationwide , Co-operate , Natwest and Barclay all say no .

    Hi Jenny

Regarding getting a rejection from the Co-operative Bank, did you apply for the basic Cashminder? This happened to me, I applied and they put me in for a full current account. As long as you are on the electoral roll, no fraud on your credit files you should be ok. See if you can through to 'Account Opening Dept'.

Just an update, have you heard of Think Banking it's run by RBS, you do get a proper debit card a Maestro, the only downside is there is a monthly fee of £12.50. I think if you have a look on this web site's guide to basic accounts, there is a link there!
