    Re: congestion charging

    Surprise, surprise - NOT!

The UK motorist is the most overtaxed and over-charged person in the road-user world. There are a load of 'ifs' in this article but the essence is probably right.

Congestion charges make sense until you are forced to work in a city at which point you simply add the charge to your expenses and off you go. It doesn't hurt you as you claim it back from your employer. It hurts the little guy, the one who has to service your computer or deliver equipment. It destroys the service industry and adds to the considerable costs for the small business.

£1.16 per litre for diesel today. No alternatives, no bus, no train - we are dependent on our cars. The liars and cheats we have in Westminster who are fully expensed by us all have no worries with whether they have to make the choice between eating or filling the car, but there are thousands here in the South West facing exactly that decision every day. Now add the planned "pay-per-journey" proposed taxes and you'll have a revolution on your hands.

    SHARK!

For every positive action, there's an equal and opposite government plan.
