Plasmas have come a long way in terms of reliability but I still feel LCD gives a better picture quality. The Samsungs and Phillips are the best quality I've seen. Stay away from Bravias!
If you have a little bit of money to spend, DLPs are the best HDTVs you can buy in terms of quality, have a look and see if you can get any good deals on one!
