I opened a bank account with this bank and from the moment I opened it I had nothing but trouble. I was unable to gain any kind of Internet access to my savings due to an IT problem that went on for over 2 weeks, no one bothered to call me back, every time I called I was given a different excuse. I smelt a rat so have since shut the account down on 11th March and have still not had my money back from them.

I've opened up the account with the minimum £1k and all went fine.Logged in and access is fine. Not tried withdrawals yet though

I have just opened account and about to place funds in,

however I received letter with details of account but am

unable to access it keeps coming up with memorable word

etc invalid,then my acc is blocked.I phoned customer service

ok and they said it is not my fault but their system and to

try Monday when it should be alright.Needless to say I am a bit

disturbed at this never having before being denied access

to an account even with A/L.To deposit an amount of my savings

now,well I am uneasy to say the least having also read a few things

on these forums.

Some interesting views here - i have deposited a reasonable amount of cash here over the last weeks. I must say the application process was very smooth and I have had no problems servicing my account. It looks a very new website so I would assume the technology would take some time to bed down.

Im not convinced by the media speculation about the Icelandic banks "teetering on the brink". Each has at least 365 days of liquidity (Northern Rock had 7!) and are able to secure finance on a private basis well below their CDS premiums.

Also there seems to be some profiteering (akin to collusion to force the price down for profit) as trader sold short on Icelandic banks.

Well in conclusion I will say that I cannot complain at any thing at all

Kaupthing are the goods for me and my cash is in their saving acct I must

state absolute first class service they seem to care about customers,unlike .

bureaucratic bunglers who put every spoke in your wheel when trying to

open an account like All/Leicester and worse Coventry B/S .

Well I have been with Kaupthing Edge for a while now, money in and out no problem, plus no computor problem at all, and I do go on to there excellent web site nearly every day ??..can't understand the doom and gloom merchants...

I have £10K that I'd like to save I am prepared to have no access to the funds for 12 months. I have been doing some research and the Kaupthing Edge Term Account has a good rate, from memory I think it's 6.86% but could anyone suggest an alternative that could beat this rate?
