i dropped my imac (computer) and the screen smashed, its a few years old but will the insurers (more than) try and repair it or replace it?
I havent claimed before and have accidental damage in my policy

Check the small print but most policies will be repair or replace which means if a repair can be effected economically then that will be the first approach taken before replacement. I suspect, it will probably be more economical to replace

My laptop was replaced but it was a close thing. It was only marginally more expensive to replace than to repair, so they gave me a new one.
