    Virgin on the ridiculous

    I am with Virgin broadband and sometiems the speed are ridiculous. on the day it went active i got 1.9 mbs since that day the speed has fluctuated from 105 kbs to 1.83 Mbs, is anyone having a problem.

     i have a nice peice of software that is free to download to test your connection speed, it is free to download for individuals. i have been using it and taking screen shots to prove my higher speeds in case virgin turn around and say that i can't get higher than 256 kbs as BT reckon. the web address is http://www.myspeed.com/pe/index.html let me know what you get, especially those with virgin.

    I am having the same problem, nearly the same, I have 8mbs I got about 5mbs (what my BT line can handle) when it went active. After about 2 or 3 months it went slower and slower until it got really noticeable I phoned them and they said do 6 Speed tests over a day. 1st speed test 181 kilobits, 2nd 270.1 kilobits, 3rd 355.4 kilobits, 4th 267.7 kilobits, 5th 213.2 kilobits and 6th 1.1 megabits. As you said they fluctuated mine do aswell. When they got the results after about 2 days they phoned me back, 1st person I talked to said its BTs fault and that it was BTs Virtual paths on  the exchange that weren't working. So I phoned BT and I got put on to 4 different departments and finally a person explained to me that ISP companies were falsely saying it was BTs fault, when they don't deal with the exchanges openreach do, so the person told me to be firm with Virgin because it was there fault. So once again I phoned virgin and tell them what BT had said, he again said its got nothing to do with us , so now I am getting pretty annoyed as you can imagine. So now I do not no what to do and my internet is slow and I play Xbox Live I lagg all the time and get disconnected all the time.

    Same problem, however im supposedly meant to be on 20mb................i never ever get this sort of speed though!

    Called engineers out, they fiddle with the modem lights and just go!

    Also the bumbling idiots mess up the bills charging me almost 50% extra every month, when querying this and staying on the phone for hours on end i get through to someone who taps his keyboard loudly for a lifetime then says your next bill will be debited with the difference.................waiting for the next bill to see if hes worked his magic with the keyboard! 

    MY ADVICE = VIRGIN = TROUBLE...............STAY AWAY!
